A young Nigerian, Promise Wosu Junior, has embarked on a daunting expedition in an attempt to etch his name in the famous Guinness Book of Records.
The determined man, known as 'Wene', is aiming to set the world record for the longest distance covered on foot by running from Lagos to Port Harcourt.
The 28-year-old will cover a total distance of 606km in a marathon spread across six states of Nigeria, ending in the Rivers State capital in five days.
According to an official statement from the Guinness World Record website, there is a wide variety of records to choose from, and they can be attempted across a broad range of platforms.
Promise Junior took off from the famous Toll Gate in Lekki at 4am on Tuesday, October 17 and is billed to arrive in Port Harcourt City on Saturday, October 21.
According to him, the dream is about to become a reality with hard work and persistence.
The aspiring record-setter added that he is desperate to set a milestone of 'impossibilities, passion, determination, consistency, patience, and focus'.
More than eight hours after his departure, Wosu Junior shared photos of his arrival in Ogun State. He said in a statement with accompanying images:
"It’s either I win or I succeed. Please join me on this mission."
As fans continue to anticipate his next stop, Wene has also disclosed that while all protocols are observed, his real-time location will not be disclosed for security reasons.
