A host of newly-crowned world champions led by Noah Lyles, Sha'Carri Richardson and Mary Moraa are set to light up the finals from the 16 to 17 at the Hayward field.

Wanda Diamond League rules

The lucrative series consists of different meets in different countries throughout the course of the year.

The one-day meets see athletes compete in various disciplines in 14 cities from May to September, with the top names making the final in the USA later in the season.

In each of the first 14 meetings, the top eight athletes are awarded points based on their finishing position. Number one gets eight points, number two gets seven, and so on.

Afterwards, the first six athletes in the field events qualify for the final. In the 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m, the first eight athletes proceed to the final, while the other middle distance events, it is the top 10 athletes who make the cut.
