Shericka Jackson comfortably won the women's 200m at the Zurich Diamond League days after winning the world title at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest.

The Jamaican, who also bagged silver in the 100m, clocked 21.82 seconds, narrowly missing Florence Griffith-Joyner's world record, which has stood since 1988.

Britain's Daryll Neita finished second, clocking 22.25 seconds. American Kayla White completed the top three after clocking 22.33 seconds, per Diamond League.

Jackson broke her record last week and has been edging closer to Flo-Jo's world record set at the 1988 Olympic Games. The 29-year-old has been on a tear this year, and many feel it is only a matter of time until she breaks the world record.

Jackson is considered one of the best 200m runners ever.

Jackson sets Championship record

Last week, Jackson produced one of the greatest runs of all time to win gold in the women's 200m final. She beat Americans Sha'Carri Richardson and Gabby Thomas in Budapest.

She was running against the clock, and she was quick. She clocked 21.41 seconds, the second-fastest 200m run in history, breaking her own record she set in Oregon last year. To put her performance into context, Thomas finished 0.40 behind her in second.

Thomas clocked 21.81 to take silver, while her compatriot ran a personal best of 21.92 seconds to take bronze.

Richardson beat Jackson in women's 100m

Sports Brief earlier reported on Richardson stunning Jackson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce to win the women's 100m world title in Budapest.

She clocked a championship record of 10.65 seconds, denying defending champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Jackson. It was also the first women's 100-metre world championship victory by an American athlete since 2017 when Tori Bowie won.

Jackson finished second in 10.72 seconds, while five-time champion Fraser-Pryce finished third in 10.81 seconds.
