She participated in the 4-by-400m mixed relay, in which they finished seventh in the final, clocking a time of 3:14.27.

The United States set a new world record to dramatically retain their title after Femke Bol of the Netherlands fell near the finishing line.

Schmidt issues Haaland a challenge

Speaking during the event, Schmidt invited Haaland to a 400m race, reckoning she could beat the striker in one lap.

"I think, on 400m, yes. On 200m, it would be more difficult. But I would be happy if the race took place. Haaland, if you're ready to race, I would be happy. Let's see who's faster," she told Norwegian publication, Dagbladet.

Haaland was one of the fastest players in the Premier League last season, ranking eighth overall at 36.22km/h in a set of statistics revealed by Squawka.

Schmidt, on the other hand, has a personal best of 52.18 seconds in the 400m race. She previously beat Borussia Dortmund's centre-back, Mats Hummels, in a similar race, which she shared on her YouTube channel.

Fraser-Pryce breaks Bolt’s record

Sports Brief also reported on Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce breaking Usain Bolt’s record to become the most successful Jamaican athlete in history.

Her third-place finish sees her move above the sprint legend to 15 medals in the World Championships. He won 14 medals - 11 of them gold.

Bolt's Jamaican compatriot is now second in the all-time list behind American great, Allyson Felix, who leads the standings with 20 medals.
