Marie Josée Ta Lou displayed her explosive prowess as she sprinted past Dina Asher-Smith and Shericka Jackson to claim victory in the women's 100-meter race at the London Diamond League on Sunday, July 23.

The Ivorian sprint sensation recorded an impressive time of 10.75 seconds, securing the top spot ahead of Great Britain's Asher-Smith, who followed closely behind with a time of 10.85 seconds, earning her the second position, while Shericka from Jamaica finished in third place with a time of 10.94 seconds.

Initially, Asher-Smith, who run her season best, had the fastest start out of the blocks, with Ta Lou and Shericka chasing closely behind her, per BBC.

However, in a remarkable late surge, the 100-meter African record holder accelerated past her rivals, claiming a stunning victory.

Notably, Ta Lou's time of 10.75 seconds not only earned her the Meeting Record at the London Diamond League but also marked her fourth Diamond League win of the season, as reported by World Athletics.

Ta Lou smashes African record

In a previous publication, Sports Brief reported that the Ivorian sprinter unleashed her emotions as she smashed the African record in the women's 100-metre race at the Diamond League in Monaco on Wednesday, August 10, 2022.

Ta Lou ran an incredible time of 10.72s to finish third behind Jamaican sprinter Shericka Jackson, who came in second with a personal best of 10.71 seconds and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, who clocked 10.62 seconds.

The three-time African Games 100m champion was filled with excitement after enshrining her legacy as the sprint legend on the continent.

Sports Brief also reported that in an exhilarating conclusion to the Silesia Diamond League meeting in Poland on Sunday, July 16, Sha'Carri Richardson emerged triumphant over Shericka Jackson.

With a late surge, the American athlete raced to victory in 10.76 seconds, surpassing the fastest woman in the world this year.
