How Simbine beat Kerley

The men's 100m race concluded with an incredibly close finish, as Akani Simbine of South Africa emerged as the victor, according to the Olympics.

Cravont Charleston initially led for a significant portion of the race, but Simbine executed a powerful surge in the final moments to surpass him and secure the win, leaving reigning world champion Fred Kerley in his wake.

Emmanuel Eseme from Cameroon secured third place, closely followed by Charleston, with only a mere two-hundredths of a second separating the top four athletes.

Prior to his triumph over Kerley, who had recorded the third-fastest time globally for the year, Simbine had been on a winning streak, securing three consecutive victories.

These wins, achieved in the Czech Republic and Sweden, highlighted Simbine's impressive comeback and reaffirmed his prowess in the sport, IOL reports.

It is worth mentioning that Simbine had previously held the African record for the 100 meters, clocking in at 9.84 seconds in July 2021. However, this record was later broken by Ferdinand Omurwa in September 2021.
