FootballFour times athletes' wigs fell off after Sha'Carri Richardson's incidence
Sha-Carri Richardson is back on the track and taking no prisoners.
The 23-year-old track and field star came flying to the finish line Friday night, claiming the winning title at the US Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon. The athlete won the women's 100-meter final with a 10.82 time.
Before Richardson took off for her race on Friday, she pulled off her iconic orange wig and tossed it to the side as her name was called, showcasing her braided hair underneath.
The crowd erupted into cheers and applause as Richardson stayed focused and ready to speed down the track.
Following Sha'Carri Richardson's wig removal before her race, Sports Brief takes a look at four other times athletes' wigs fell off on the track.
Blessing Okagbare
This is the moment athletics fans witnessed a first as a long-jumper's WIG fell off in the sand at Oslo Diamond League in 2017.
Blessing Okagbare was competing in the Diamond League meeting in Oslo when her event took a rather unusual turn.
The Nigerian performed a near-perfect run followed by the hop, skip and jump and all seemed like it was going to end well.
But as she thrust into the sand, her hairpiece came loose, fell from her scalp and plopped into the sand.
But the jump was a good one, and she measured 6.21metres.
Jasmin Stowers
The American runner took part in the 2017 Müller Anniversary Games - IAAF London Diamond League meet this in London.
Stowers fell very frightfully during the women's 100-meter hurdles race, which fellow American Kendra Harrison won. Stowers fell after tripping over two hurdles.
Stowers' wig came off as she descended, and she struck her head on the floor. She would experience a mild concussion in the end.
While most of us would probably want to run away (no pun intended) and hide after such a moment, Stowers handled the situation pretty well.

CricketBaily Cargill
During Wednesday night's Capital One Cup clash between Liverpool and Bournemouth it seems Cherries defender Baily Cargill's wig fell off.
The defender was advancing into the Liverpool half when something appeared to drop off his head.
The clip quickly went viral with people on social media convinced Cargill, an England youth international, had suffered an embarrassing hair malfunction.
However, Bournemouth have since moved to clear up any confusion, revealing on Twitter that Cargill was actually wearing a bandage.
