This outstanding achievement placed him ahead of Cuba's Reynier Mena and his compatriot Joseph Fahnbulleh, who claimed second and third place respectively.

The 19-year-old prodigy's impressive time of 19.77 did not only secured his victory but also set a new record, surpassing the legendary three-time Olympic champion Usain Bolt, Trackalerts reports.

This marked Knighton's third triumph in the 200m race category within Europe this year, further solidifying his position as an emerging force in sprinting.

How Knighton broke Bolt's record?

Knighton, the fifth fastest man in history over 200m race, made an impressive start and quickly took the lead as he approached the turn.

Transitioning smoothly into the curve, the American sprinter effortlessly widened the gap between himself and the pursuing competitors, gradually vanishing from their sight.

He eventually established a Meeting record with his impeccable run, leaving the chasing pack far behind in his wake.

Here is the video:

After the race, the American was mightily delighted in his new feat of surpassing sprinting legend Usain Bolt.

"I came and won it as I said I would," Knighton said as quoted by Olympics.
"I am pleased to take the meeting record from Usain Bolt, but I want to make a name for myself at the Diamond League and to be remembered going forward as the meeting record holder."

Bolt embraces 200m champion

In a related publication, Sports Brief reported that Noah Lyles obliterated his fellow competitors to set a new World Lead time this season in the 200-metres race at the Racers Grand Prix on June 3 in Kingston, Jamaica.

The World Champion clocked 19.67 seconds, finishing way ahead of Zharnel Hughes, who came in at 20.14 seconds. Jamaica's Rasheed Dwyer came in third with 20.53 seconds.

Among the fans in Kingston was the legendary Usain Bolt, who stood up to shake and embrace the World Champion. Bolt is the world record holder, having run 19.19 seconds in the race in 2009.
