The World, Commonwealth, and African 100m Hurdles champion and record holder, Tobi Amusan, has reacted to her nomination for the World Athlete of the Year Award.
Amusan, who is having a sensational season, stunned the sporting world during the World Athletics Championships when she ran 12.12s at the semifinal stage in the Women’s Hurdles.
The 25-year-old is now the world record holder as she also set another at the Commonwealth Games when she won gold with a time of 12.20secs in the final.
Her name was included in the ten athletes nominated for the Women’s World Athlete of the Year 2022 award, which was released on Wednesday, October 12.

She wrote on her Facebook page:
“I’m short of words. Through the grace of God, I have achieved so many “first by a Nigerian” and this is yet another one. I’m so honoured to be selected as a World Athlete of the Year Nominee and the first Nigerian ever to reach this height.
“I have twice being named Nigerian Athlete of the Year by Athletic Heat platform but this is my first international nomination and I want us to win it!"
Meanwhile, Complete Sports that the voting process will take three models to determine the finalists.
It was gathered that The World Athletics Council members will cast their votes by email, while fans will have an opportunity to vote online via the World Athletics social media platforms.

Sports Brief earlier reported that Tobi Amusan’s world record in the Women’s 100m Hurdles at the semifinals of the Athletics Championships in Oregon in July has been ratified by the World Athletics (previously known as IAAF).
A statement by the athletics body confirmed the status on Tuesday morning, September 20.
Impressive Amusan stunned the world when she crossed the finish line at 12.12 seconds to displace former world record holder Kendra Harrison, who had set the world record in the 100 metres hurdles with a time of 12.20 seconds in 2016.
