Barry Holland is proving that running the Comrades is for everyone.
The 70-year-old athlete finished his 48th Comrades Marathon in a row in a time of 11:44:39.
Speaking after the race, Barry said that there were times he didn’t think he would make it as he was cramping very badly along the route. He also had blood ad scrapes on his knee, evidence of a fall along the route.
Despite the difficult conditions, Barry pushed through to finish the race and earn his 47th medal.

“Running Comrades is not impossible, it’s just building up layer upon layer. It’s quite amazing how you will get there.”
He added that at 70 years old it was getting hard, but for the youngsters, they could still do it.
