Ghanaian athlete Alex Amankwah was left in uncontrollable tears following his disqualification from the 800m race at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Oregon, Eugene.
Alex Amankwah, who holds the Ghanian national 800m record, came in the fourth position in his heat - clocking a time of 1:45.92 in the 800m event.
His time would have guaranteed him a spot in the semifinals of the 800m as one of the athletes with the best losing times.
However, his joy was short-lived after he was disqualified for a lane violation which occurred halfway through the race.

In a video posted on Twitter, seen by Sports Brief, the 25-year-old runner reacted to his disqualification in touching circumstances.
Although, Amankwah expressed disappointment at the setback he was quick to note he will draw positives.
"I worked too hard for moments like this to get in the way but it's okay. I'm a fighter and I know I'm going to be better because of this," he said as quoted by Ghanaweb.
Amankwah inked his name in Ghanaian Athletics history when he set the national 800m record in 2017 with a time of 1:44.80.

AthleticsEarlier, Sports Brief reported that Ghanaian sprint king Benjamin Azamati clinched a gold medal in the 100m race at the Paris Diamond League Meet on Saturday, June 18.
Azamati clocked a time of 10.25s in the 100 metres race to finish ahead of French duo Fall Mouhamadou and Vicaut Jimmy. It was only his second-ever appearance at the Diamond League Meet after finishing in the fourth position in Oslo.
Despite Azamati’s Time being nowhere near his personal best and the new national record of 9.90secs ran at the 2022 Texas Relays earlier in March.
