Home hero Ferdinand Omanyala has opened up on missing out on the 100 metres finals of the World Athletics Championships. Omanyala quipped that he had no regrets whatsoever for how things had turned out.
Omanyala finished fifth in his Heat which automatically knocked him out of the final. But for the Kenyan, whose preparations were hampered by visa delays, he insists that he gave his best.
Speaking to BBC Sports' Lynne Wachira immediately after the Sunday morning race, Omanyala said that:
I am not disappointed not going through to the finals, the most important thing is that I showed up and gave it my best.

I have no regrets as I head to the Commonwealth Games.
Omanyala will now be seeking to dethrone Akani Simbine as the Commonwealth Champion, which will be held in Birmingham from 28th July. Simbine, unlike Omanyala, made it to the 100 metres finals after pipping Trayvon Bromell to win his Heat.
And on his social media handles moments later, the African record holder stated that:
Every challenge you face today makes you stronger tomorrow. The challenge of life is intended to make you better, not bitter. Persistence and resilience only come from having been given the chance to work through difficult problems.

Who qualified for the 100 metres finals?
Earlier, Sports Brief reported how it was heartbreak for Kenyan Ferdinand Omanyala after he failed in his pursuit to make it to the finals of the 100 metres at the World Athletics Championships.
Omanyala finished fifth in the third semifinal on Sunday morning to miss out on both the two automatic spots and the fastest qualification time.
The African champion ran a time of 10.14 in a Heat that was won by Jamaica's Oblique Seville, with America's Marvin Bracy coming in second. The two are joined by Fred Kerley, Christian Coleman, Akani SImbine and Trayvon Bromell as the automatic qualifiers.
