Capital Sports reports that Yupun gained ground on Omanyala in the last 40 minutes to beat him to the finish line. This is Omanyala’s first loss of the season having recorded victories in South Africa, Italy and at the Kip Keino Classic three weeks ago.

Ferdinand Omanyala sets new record in Italy

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Africa's fastest man had set a new record. Omanyala ran a time of 10.11 seconds in the 100 metres race at the International Castiglione Athletic Meeting at Zecchini Stadium in Grosseto, Italy to set a new course record.

He completed the 100m to smash the previous course record of 10.31 seconds set by the reigning Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs. Omanyala completed a double at the races by also winning the 200 metres races.

The 26-year-old then used a time of 20.50 seconds to win the 200 metres races and cap off a wonderful weekend in Italy.

After Germany, Omanyala will now prepare himself for the Golden Spike Meet in Ostrava, Czech Republic. The meeting is a Continental Tour Gold race where he will face off with his hero, Yohan Blake.

Michael Olunga has been ranked top ten high-scoring Africans

Sticking with Kenyans doing wonders abroad, Sports Brief had reported that Harambee Stars Captain Michael Olunga was the eighth-highest scoring African in the just-concluded season, in a new set of statistics.

Olunga, who turns out for Al Duhail in Qatar, grabbed 24 goals in the Qatari League to finish as the top scorer. He was recently awarded the Mansour Muftah award which is the equivalent of the Golden Boot.
