Nasreddine Nabi's Yanga SC are set to hold a training camp in South Africa and will face Kaizer Chiefs in a pre-season friendly.

The Tanzanian side are preparing for the 2024/2025 season after a successful campaign last term, during which they won their third consecutive Premier League title and the Federation Cup.

The Jangwani-based club had a relatively successful run in the CAF Champions League, making it to the quarter-final stage. However, after both legs ended in stalemate, they lost on penalties to Premier Soccer League champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

According to a report by The Guardian, as per IPP Media, young Africans will be in South Africa for their pre-season and will face Soweto giants, Kaizer Chiefs, in one of the friendly games.

The Tanzanian champions faced the Glamour Boys last summer in a friendly game at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, which they won with a lone goal.

Ally Kamwe confirms South African trip

Young Africans' information officer, Ally Kamwe, confirmed their pre-season preparation in South Africa and believes it will be great to face highly competitive clubs in the country.

"This time, we are coming differently from previous seasons. We expect to camp in South Africa, at the invitation of various clubs, and we have to go to Kenya to open a stadium in Kisumu," he said.
"We believe it will be a good pre-season because we will have friendly matches with great competition to prepare for the 2024/25 season."

The PSL giants are closing in on appointing their former manager, Nabi, as their new coach for next season.

The Tunisian tactician won five titles, including back-to-back Tanzanian Premier League trophies with Yanga SC between 2021 and 2023.

Kaizer Chiefs linked with two strikers

In a related publication, Sports Brief reported on Kaizer Chiefs being linked with two strikers ahead of Nabi's arrival.

The Glamour Boys are reportedly eyeing summer move for Mothiba and Tumisang Orebonye.
