Kaizer Chiefs are ready to engage PSL rivals AmaZulu FC in a transfer battle for the signature of Polokwane City star Oswin Appollis in the summer.

The South African forward had a good season with Polokwane City in the 2023-24 DStv Premiership, scoring seven goals alongside five assists in 31 appearances as the Rise and Shine finished above the Glamour Boys.

The 22-year-old is not expected to leave the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium this summer as he still has two more years on his contract with Polokwane.

According to a report by Sportswire, per the South African, Kaizer Chiefs have been keeping an eye on Appollis over a summer move.

However, they will face tough competition from AmaZulu, who are also interested in signing the forward.

Both PSL clubs are said to have made contact with Polokwane City concerning the Bafana Bafana star, but they are still waiting for feedback from the Rise and Shine.

Amakhosi could edge out Amaqhawe in the race to sign Appollis due to their prestige and financial strength.

Polokwane City interim coach, Phuti Mohafe recently tipped Appollis for a move abroad after an impressive season in the South African league.

"I don’t know if he [Appollis] has an overseas offer but what I was saying, if the offer comes, it’s not going to be local, it has to be abroad,” he said.

Spurs place R6m fee on Chiefs target

Sports Brief earlier reported on Cape Town Spurs placing a R6 million price tag on Rushwin Dortley, who is Kaizer Chiefs transfer target.

The Glamour Boys will face stiff competition from other teams showing interest in the South African defender, but they could win the race if they cough up the transfer fee.

The R6 million price tag the Urban Warriors placed on Dortley proves to be a fair price, as the defender is versatile and young.
