Cameroon legend Geremi Njitap has reportedly filed for divorce after results from a DNA test proved the twins from his marriage are not his children.

The former Chelsea midfielder and his wife, Laure Fotso, have been married since 2012, four years after the birth of their twins.

However, following the discovery made after the test, the 45-year-old has decided to dissolve the relationship.

According to The Sun, court documents showed that Njitap is ending the marriage based on 'destroyed harmony' and 'repeated lies' through her abject behaviour.

Njitap was motivated to marry his wife four years after the birth of the twins thinking the children were his own.

“But the discovery that the children were from her previous partner destroyed the couple’s harmony. It caused him a huge emotional shock," part of the statement from the court documents also read.

The former Africa Cup of Nations winner is said to have suffered psychological damage following his wife's relationship with her ex-partner.

Despite an alleged failed marriage, Njitap enjoyed a successful football career, representing European clubs including Real Madrid, Chelsea and Newcastle United.

He also won two Africa Cup of Nations, an Olympic gold medal and made 113 appearances for the Indomitable Lions, per Transfermarkt.

Geremi leads African stars to play for Real Madrid

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Cameroon legend Geremi Njitap remains one of the best African players to have donned the white jersey of Spain and European giants Real Madrid.

The Spanish powerhouse is renowned for its great history and standards of success, winning the UEFA Champions League 14 times.

Over the years, Los Blancos have developed a reputation for luring the greatest and most talented players to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Cameroon's Nathan Doulla cleared of age fraud

Sports Brief also reported that Cameroon youngster Nathan Doulla has been cleared of age-cheating by the football federation.

The player has reportedly been cleared of any wrongdoing and is allowed to play in the upcoming MTN Elite 2024 playoffs for Victoria.

Former Cameroon coach Rigobert Song surprisingly picked 17-year-old Douala for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. He had no international experience and played for second-division side Victoria United.
