The Super Eagles of Nigeria are set to face the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in the round of 16 at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

Nigeria booked a place in the next round after finishing above Ivory Coast and Guinea-Bissau but behind table toppers Equatorial Guinea in Group A.

Meanwhile, Cameroon also finished second in Group C behind defending champions Senegal but above Guinea and Gambia.

Nigeria have won 12 out of their 25 games against Cameroon, while the Indomitable Lions won eight, with five ending in a draw.

The Super Eagles have a good record against the 2017 African Champions regarding facing in any of the knockout stages except the final.

Of the five AFCON trophies Cameroon won, the Indomitable Lions won three by beating Nigeria in the final. At the same time, the Super Eagles have never lost any match against them in AFCON aside finals.

The Super Eagles knocked them out of the competition in the quarter-final stage in 2019, according to Livescores.

Nigeria are looking for another win against the five-time African champions when they meet on Saturday, January 27.
