Inter Miami have come out to deny reports of a friendly match between them and Al-Nassr next year in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The game had attracted interest on social media after multiple media outlets confirmed the reports. It is a game that had been dubbed the 'Last Dance' with foes Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo rekindling their rivalry.
Organisers had confirmed that Inter Miami and Al-Nassr will make up the Riyadh Season Cup tournament, with the former coming in as guests. The three-team competition will also feature Neymar's Al-Hilal.
"We look forward to welcoming everyone from Inter Miami in February for the Riyadh Season Cup, which will bring together a number of the biggest international stars from across all three clubs competing," said Turki Alalshikh, the chairman of the Saudi General Entertainment Authority as quoted by the Athletic.
Inter Miami statement on Al-Nassr friendly
The Major League Soccer Side has, however, put out a statement disputing their involvement in the said friendly.
"Earlier today, an announcement was issued stating that Inter Miami CF is scheduled to play in the Riyadh Season Cup. This is inaccurate. The release included statements attributed to team owner Jorge Mas. Mas has made no comments, publicly or privately, in relation to the preseason tour," said the club in a statement.
However, a check by Sports Brief a few hours later revealed that the statement on Inter Miami's website had been pulled down, adding controversy to the state of the friendly match.
