- Sports Brief look at the contenders’ next six games going into the international break
The Premier League title race has taken an exciting twist in recent weeks and after 12 games of the 2023/24 season, it has now become obvious who are genuine contenders.
Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur are the early pace-setters in the race, with each side now experiencing a defeat at some point in the season.
Tottenham, who led for the first three months, have faltered as a result of back-to-back defeats, with their latest 2-1 loss to Wolves on November 12 coming as a reality check for Ange Postecoglou in his debut season in the EPL.
Those defeats and positive results for Liverpool and Arsenal tightened the margin at the top, with just two points separating first from fourth, according to the Premier League website.
The Reds moved to second with a comprehensive 3-0 win over Brentford on Sunday, while Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Burnley was enough to see them to leapfrog rivals, Tottenham, as cited by The Mirror.
As we head into the festive period, Sports Brief takes a look at the upcoming fixtures of the four main title contenders and how the league will shape up between now and just after Christmas.
For more context, Aston Villa’s fixtures have been included as well, as Unai Emery’s side are proving to be the dark horses of the league, particularly with their frightening form at home.
