Manchester United have released their first statement on the woes surrounding their winger, Antony.

The Brazilian winger has since denied the allegations and revealed in a social media statement on Tuesday that he was cooperating with police in relation to the assault claims.

Fans have been waiting to learn of Man United’s stance on the matter, amid initial reports suggesting Antony was to be axed from the squad.

Man United’s response to Antony saga

Man United have been under increasing pressure to drop Antony from the squad, as reported by the Guardian.

On September 6, the Premier League giants released an official statement acknowledging the allegations against their star man but did not go into much detail.

"Manchester United acknowledges the allegations made against Antony and notes that the police are conducting enquiries. Pending further information, the club will be making no further comments," the statement read, as cited by Sky Sports.
"As a club, we are taking this matter seriously, with consideration of the impact of these allegations and subsequent reporting will have on survivors of abuse," the statement added.

Cavallin’s allegations against Antony

Cavallin made the allegations against the winger during an interview with Brazilian website, UOL.

In the interview, she shared screenshots of messages between her and another person - believed to be Antony - and detailed the alleged abuse against her.

The influencer claimed the footballer threw a glass at her after an away game at West Ham United, leaving her with cut fingers. She later filed a report with GMP and the Sao Paulo Civil Police.

Following the allegations, Antony has been dropped from the Brazil squad for the national team’s upcoming games.

Antony’s statement after abuse allegations

Sports Brief also reported on Antony’s statement regarding battery allegations, with the winger denying he caused his ex-girlfriend physical harm but admitting they had a 'tumultuous' relationship.

Taking to social media on Monday, the Brazilian winger - whose career is said to be on the line as a result of the explosive claims - came to his own defence by denying he had assaulted Cavallin.
