Women's World 100m hurdle champion, Tobi Amusan, will compete at the upcoming World Athletic Championship in Budapest after she was cleared of doping violations.

The 26-year-old world record holder was initially banned for Whereabouts Failure in the last 12 months.

However, after investigations into the events of the past year, the Nigerian hurdler has been cleared of any anti-doping violations. Amusan will now have the opportunity to defend her title.

"A panel of the Disciplinary Tribunal, by majority decision, has today found that Tobi Amusan has not committed an Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV) of three Whereabouts Failures within a 12-month period,” the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) said in a Thursday evening statement.
“AIU Head Brett Clothier has indicated the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) is disappointed by this decision and will review the reasoning in detail before deciding whether to exercise its right of appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) within the applicable deadline.
“The decision is currently confidential but will be published in due course. Amusan’s provisional suspension has now been lifted with immediate effect.”

An excited Amusan took to social media to share her excitement after the news broke, and has promised to defend her title in Budapest.

“This morning, I found out that the independent tribunal that heard my case has ruled that I did not violate the whereabouts rules and as a result I will not be sanctioned and none of my results will be precluded," she wrote as quoted by Arise.tv.
“I am thrilled to put this behind me, and I look forward to defending my title at next week’s World Championships.
“I generally have been and consistently will be an ally of clean sport.
“To my five fingers, God is the greatest and I genuinely appreciate y’all for the support.”

Tobi Amusan suspended

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that the news of Tobi Amusan getting provisionally suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unit(AIU) has rattled her fanbase after it emerged that she had skipped three drug tests.

The 100m hurdles world record holder and world champion broke the news herself on her Instagram account before the AIU confirmed that they had suspended the Nigerian a couple of hours later.

Amusan has reiterated her innocence and has vowed to clear her name in time to defend her title at the World Athletics Championships next month.
