  • Erling Haaland continued to disapprove his naysayers with his overall output
  • The Manchester City striker has often been criticised for scoring 'easy goals'
  • Against Bayern Munich, he was unplayable, scoring and providing an assist

Erling Haaland has technically broken all the records at his disposal in his maiden season in England.

His goal against Bayern Munich on April 11 saw him surpass Mohamed Salah and Ruud van Nistelrooy's shared record of 44 goals in all competitions for a player in the Premier League.

Haaland has at least 10 more games to go, mind you.

But among all his superhuman qualities, from the gigantic leap against Sevilla to the acrobatic effort against Southampton, the Norwegian has - more often than not - been on the receiving end of criticism.

If you are a regular on social media, you are likely to come across phrases like: 'he only scores tap-ins'.

Haaland's goals compared to others

Admittedly, very few of Haaland's goals are as aesthetic as neutrals would want them to be. Most of his goals stem from his world-class positioning and the ability to be at the right place at the right time.

He rarely uses Lionel Messi's body feint, Cristiano Ronaldo's shot power, or Kylian Mbappe's injection of pace. His modus operandi is simple - swing it in the box and you are 9/10 likely to find him.

But in two successive games, Haaland has demystified that myth with two brilliant plays. First came the overhead kick versus Southampton and then the sublime assist against Bayern Munich.

Haaland's assist vs Bayern Munich

Jack Grealish applied pressure on Dayot Upamecano before he released Haaland on the left flank. The 22-year-old had acres of space to test Yann Sommer and on any other day, one would expect him to take the shot.

But he sweetly left two Bayern defenders on the floor, before lobbing the ball across goal. Bernardo Silva responded with a glancing header past Sommer for City's second score.

That assist was pure art.

Rodri's goal for Man City

In the same game, Sports Brief reported on Man City midfielder, Rodri scoring an absolute blinder in the quarter-final tie against Bayern Munich on Tuesday night.

The Spanish lynchpin broke the game's deadlock with a stunning curler, which kissed the roof of the net, much to the admiration of the Etihad Stadium faithful.

The strike is Rodri's first goal in Europe's premier club competition and, more importantly, put Man City in the driving seat in the blockbuster matchup.
