Nigerian Midfielder Says Victor Osimhen Once Fought With a Super Eagles Defender in Training

Nigerian international, John Ogu has described Victor Osimhen as a player who is hungry for success, saying he is not surprised that Napoli striker has been scoring goals.

Osimhen has already notched in 12 Serie A goals this season, helping the Partenopei continue towards a dream of a first league title since 1990.

Ogu, who is an international teammate of the striker, has narrated how Osimhen once fought Leon Balogun in training because of his hunger for success.

The former Hapoel Be'er Sheva player was called into the national team in 2013 and has 26 caps for Nigeria, scoring one goal.

He told famous sports journalist, Matthew Edafe:

“You know [Osimhen] grew up on the street. He had a tough time. There was a time he had to fight with Balogun in training. That’s to tell you how because he is hungry for it."
"When I saw people say congratulations to him, I told him it’s not surprising to me. Osimhen will step in the shoes of Rashidi Yekini."

Osimhen happy at Napoli

Meanwhile, English Premier League club Manchester United continued to chase Nigerian international, Osimhen ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old has been in blistering form for Napoli this season, scoring 12 goals and making three assists in the Serie A so far.

It is believed the former Lille of France striker has told his agents to postpone further talks about his future until the end of the season.

Oliseh congratulates Osimhen

Sports Brief earlier reported that former Nigerian international, Sunday Oliseh has hailed Osimhen for his impressive performances for Napoli in recent times.

The striker recently received the prestigious Globe Soccer Award, as the Power Horse Emerging Player of the Year.

Osimhen edged out Barcelona’s Gavi and Federico Valverde of Real Madrid to claim the coveted individual accolade.
