  • Martin Odegaard wowed Arsenal fans with a brilliant free kick on December 13
  • The Norwegian was among many stars out of action because of the World Cup
  • Arsenal are gearing up to return to their title challenge when the EPL resumes

Arsenal fans were left ecstatic on Tuesday, December 13, after witnessing a classic free kick by Martin Odegaard.

After Norway failed to qualify for the World Cup, Odegaard got much-needed time off football.

Arsenal clashed with AC Milan in a mid-season friendly, and the former Real Madrid man was quick to show fans what they had been missing for the past one month or so.

The 23-year-old opened the scoring for the Gunners with a sumptuous left-footed free kick, a few yards from the penalty area.

He did brilliantly to bring the ball up and down to beat the goalie and give his side a much-deserved lead.

Here are some reactions from fans:

“Unsung hero for Arsenal this year.”
"This is an incredible technique. You could score like 10 of these a season if you got enough of them. Sample size of 30 free kicks around that area,"
“What a beauty that goal is”
"Fully rested Norwegian...that's what we all wanted right? Draft him in your #FPL team...thank me later!"

Academy product Reiss Nelson then doubled the lead with a deflected effort, with AC Milan’s goal coming from former Chelsea star Fikayo Tomori late on.

Despite the Gunners clinging on for the win, the game went to penalties, which they also won.

This was the second straight victory during the mid-season break for Mikel Arteta’s side, after getting past French side Lyon last time out.

Arsenal resume competitive football with a tricky Boxing Day fixture against West Ham United at the Emirates Stadium.

Prior to the World Cup break, Arteta’s side got some breathing room at the top of the table, as they sit four points ahead of closest rivals Manchester City.

Broja ruled out for season

Elsewhere, Sports Brief reported on how Chelsea were dealt a big blow, as Armando Broja was ruled out for the rest of the season with injury.

Broja suffered an unexpected injury during a mid-season friendly against Aston Villa on Sunday, December 11.

The young forward screamed in pain after a collision with Ezri Konsa, and had to be stretchered off the field of play.
