  • Paul Pogba is set to miss the upcoming World Cup with France due to a thigh problem
  • The Juventus midfielder was expected to resume action in mid-September before he suffered a fresh injury blow
  • Max Allegri has now suggested that Pogba's decision not to undergo surgery hampered his chances of playing in the World Cup

Juventus manager Max Allegri has blamed Paul Pogba for his inability to take part in the 2022 edition of the World Cup in Qatar.

Pogba will not be part of France's squad, which will be out to defend the crown they won in 2018 in Russia.

The former Manchester United midfielder was ruled out of the competition after suffering from a fresh thigh problem, that will keep him on the sidelines for another three weeks.

According to the Daily Mail, Pogba has been battling a meniscus injury since pre-season, with the World Cup winner yet to feature for Juventus since re-joining the club on a free transfer from Man United this summer.

Pogba is understood to have visited a specialist back in August and was convinced not to undergo surgery, hoping to return in action by mid-September.

Max Allegri blames Paul Pogba

Allegri has now suggested that the Frenchman himself is to blame for failing to get ready for the World Cup.

According to the Frenchman, the midfielder's decision not to undergo surgery narrowed his chances of achieving fitness sooner.

"Once the decision was made not to have surgery at the start of the season, it was normal that hopes that he could return with Juventus and France were slim," Allegri said via Mail Online.

Meanwhile, France will also be without Chelsea star N'Golo Kante, who is nursing a hamstring injury.

Aurier dragged into Pogba feud

Sports Brief had earlier reported that there was a new twist in the Pogba brothers saga, as Mathias Pogba has dragged former Tottenham Hotspur defender Serge Aurier into the mess.

Mathias is currently in provisional detention, but this has not stopped him from dishing out numerous accusations against his star brother Paul.

On September 22, he released a series of videos overnight on his Twitter account, in what many believed to be the work of a bot in a carefully planned release of the videos long before his detention.
