Ronaldo pulled off the now-trendy celebration after scoring his 700th goal in club football against Everton earlier in the month.

The celebration involves one standing upright with their head back, eyes closed, fingers crossed in front of their chests.

Given Ronaldo's influence, a number of sporting stars have been copying the new celebration during games.

Palmeiras team copies Ronaldo's celebration

The Palmeiras Women are the latest sporting stars to pull off the celebration.

The team copied the new celebration after beating Boca Juniors in the Copa Libertadores final at the weekend.

Photos of the imitation have been doing rounds on social media, with users pinpointing Ronaldo's influence in the sporting world.

One posted:

A second noted:

Another tweeted:

Cristiano Ronaldo snubs Jamie Carragher

Sports Brief earlier reported on Ronaldo ignoring Liverpool great Jamie Carragher during a live broadcast, but greeting his former Red Devils teammate Gary Neville.

Carragher was in the company of former Manchester United players, including Roy Keane and Neville.

Ronaldo walked straight to Neville then skipped Carragher, who was in the middle, before heading straight towards Keane despite Carragher's attempts to greet him.
