Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has revealed that he intends to deal with the latest Cristiano Ronaldo situation.

The striker had been omitted from the starting lineup, with Marcus Rashford taking his place after the Newcastle stalemate.

He ended up being an unused substitute as ten Hag preferred other players as he made his changes. Ten Hag made three changes as Scott McTominay, Anthony Elanga and Cristian Eriksen were brought on to see out the game.

Ten Hag did not use all the 5 substitutes

United technically still had two more substitutions to make, but Ronaldo deciphered that the manager was not planning on making any further changes. The Portuguese headed down the tunnel at the 89th minute, sparking widespread reactions.

Speaking after seeing his side win 2-0 courtesy of goals from Fred and Bruno Fernandes, ten Hag declined to give an immediate response to the issues but promised to look into it, as Sky Sports reports.

"He was there, I saw him, but I didn't speak with him. I will deal with that tomorrow, not today. We're celebrating this victory and now we have to recover and another big game on Saturday, Chelsea."

Ronaldo was angry after being taken off against Newcastle

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Cristiano Ronaldo cut a dejected figure after he was subbed off in the second half of Man United's Premier League clash with Newcastle at Old Trafford.

The veteran striker was handed a rare Premier League start during the encounter as Erik ten Hag named him in the starting XI.

However, the Portuguese, who recently became the first player in history to score 700 club goals made little impact during the Sunday, October 16, encounter.
