  • Paulo Dybala has emerged as a major doubt for the 2022 World Cup after he picked up an injury while in action for Roma
  • The ex-Juventus ace pulled up clutching the left leg shortly after he had scored for Roma from the penalty spot against Lecce
  • Jose Mourinho has since described Dybala's injury as 'very bad' with the forward now unlikely to line up for Argentina in Qatar

Paulo Dybala is in danger of missing the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with Argentina after he suffered a 'very bad' injury during Roma's Serie A clash with Lecce over the weekend.

The former Juventus star was part of Roma's starting X1, which stunned Lecce 2-1 at Stadio Olimpico on Sunday, October 9.

While the forward got his name on the scoresheet, there was no happy ending for him after he seemed to have suffered an injury.

According to The Sun, Dybala pulled up, clutching the left leg he had used to fire home Rom's second goal in the 48th minute.

Everything seemed so smooth moments after Dybala strode up to tuck home the winner, only for the Roma ace to evidence signs of pain shortly after.

A video capturing the moment showed his teammates rushing to congratulate him, but the Argentine had his mood changed as he grimaced and held his thigh.

He was replaced immediately and could be seen hobbling off as he made his way out of the pitch.

Could Paulo Dybala miss the World Cup?

Speaking on Dybala's situation, Jose Mourinho described the forward's injury as 'very bad.'

"The injury looks very bad. I'd say bad, but honestly after speaking with Paulo... I think very bad," he said via The Sun.

Dybala's injury would be a massive blow to Argentina, who have been touted as favourites to win the 2022 edition of the World Cup.

La Albicelestes are in Group C of the competition and have been pooled alongside Saudi Arabia, Mexico, and Poland.

Mourinho’s hilarious antics during Roma’s win over Inter

Days earlier, Sports Brief reported how Jose Mourinho left fans in hysterics after documenting his bittersweet day on Saturday, October 1.

He had to watch his side play against his former team Inter from the team bus, as he was serving a ban following his sending-off in the defeat to Atalanta in September.

In typical Jose Mourinho style, the gaffer updated his followers on Instagram with a series of posts on how his day was going.
