While the Red Devils have an option of extending the Spaniard's deal by a further 12 months, Ten Hag is understood to be keen on a long-term replacement.

According to The Sun, citing Jeunes Footeux, Ten Hag has not been "convinced" by De Gea since taking charge at Old Trafford and is now looking to replace the Spain international.

Reports claim the former Ajax boss has shortlisted Oblak as the perfect candidate for the United No.1 role.

Oblak, who is widely regarded as one of the finest goalkeepers in the world, has just a couple of months left on his contract with Atletico Madrid.

The Slovenian will be out of contract at Wanda Metropolitano at the end of the ongoing season and should be available for a cut price in January.

It is claimed United are even prepared to double Oblak's wages to £300k-a-week in order to convince him to move to the red side of Manchester.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils will have to contend with competition from Paris Saint-Germain in their pursuit to sign the Atletico No.1.

Cristiano Ronaldo scores maiden Europa League goal

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Cristiano Ronaldo has scored his first-ever goal in the UEFA Europa League, which doubles as his first goal of the season across all competitions.

Ronaldo notched his first goal in Europe's secondary club competition with a lovely strike against Moldovan outfit Sheriff Tiraspol.

The 37-year-old forward has struggled to find the back of the net since the start of the season, largely due to an uneventful pre-season which translated into the season.
