  • Chelsea have reportedly resolved to stick with Graham Potter if the new boss fails to seal a top-four finish
  • Potter, who succeeded Thomas Tuchel, is viewed as a long-term appointment at Stamford Bridge after he was handed a five-year contract at the club
  • The development is a complete departure from the Roman Abramovich era, where the former Blues owner earned a reputation for firing managers as soon as it became apparent they would miss out a European spot

Chelsea reportedly have no plans of sacking Graham Potter even if the Blues miss out on a top-four finish this season.

Potter was appointed Blues news boss late last week to succeed Thoams Tuchel, who was shown the door after a slow start to the new season.

Chelsea to afford Graham Potter more time

While it is too early to predict how the season will pan out, reports suggest Blues chiefs have no intention of firing Potter if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.

According to The Mirror, Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is determined to bring success to the club through Potter, who he wants to forge a long-term plan for the club with.

It is understood that the new Chelsea leadership has indicated they see Potter as a long-term appointment, having handed him a five-year deal after his arrival from Brighton.

The club reportedly have faith in Potter that he can build a squad, improve and develop young players and enjoy sustained success both in the Premier League and on the continental stage.

Graham Potter sends Brighton fans special message

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Graham Potter has finally opened up about his decision to quit Brighton to succeed Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea.

The Englishman swapped Brighton for the Blues just a day after the Blues had sacked Tuchel following a slow start to the new season.

In an open letter sent to Brighton fans, Potter admitted that he was fully aware his decision to quit had left the club's fanbase heartbroken.
