The Blues are in the market for a new centre-back following the departure of Antonio Rudiger who joined Real Madrid on a free transfer.
Rudiger was a key squad player at Stamford Bridge for several years but failed to renew his deal with them paving way for his departure.
Metro UK now reports the west Londoners have set their sights on signing De Ligt this summer to fill the void left by the Germany international.

However, they are likely to face stiff competition from Man United in their pursuit for the former Ajax superstar.
Reports suggest the Red Devils are keen to have the Juventus ace reunite with Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.
De Ligt, who has struggled at the Allianz Stadium since his move to Turin in 2019 thrived under Ten Hag during their time together at Ajax.
The 22-year-old is under contract with the Old Lady until the summer of 2024 and has a release clause of £102m.
