Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard has included Chelsea duo Mateo Kovacic and Mason Mount in his list of the best midfielders in the world.
Gerrard is widely acclaimed as one of the best midfielders in the history of the Premier League alongside Frank Lampard, Paul Scholes, and Patrick Vieira.
The Aston Villa boss was recently asked to name his list of the best midfielders currently by Rio Ferdinand.
In his list, the former England international included only Premier League players with the exception of Jude Bellingham who is plying his trade in the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund.
Other players who featured in Gerrard's list include Man City playmaker, Kevin De Bruyne, Rodri, and Liverpool's Fabinho.
"Playing now… love Jude Bellingham, absolutely loving him. Kevin De Bruyne, without a shadow of a doubt. I’m going to go for attacking players," Gerrard told Rio as quoted by Metro UK.
"Love Mason Mount, what he’s doing. Kovacic at Chelsea. I’ll go for one No.6… I love Fabinho at Liverpool and I love Rodri," he added.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Chelsea could lose as many as 10 senior players once the summer transfer window opens in the coming weeks.
The players include Romelu Lukaku, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Timo Werner, Ross Barkley, and Cesar Azpilicueta whose deal is set to expire at the end of the season.
