Villarreal midfield linchpin Étienne Capoue has described Liverpool's fabled Anfield Stadium as hell, adding it is the worst stadium he has played at.

The French midfielder who has been an integral member of Villarreal's giant-killing side made his assertion ahead of Wednesday's semifinal first-leg tie against Liverpool.

Capoue, who has faced Liverpool on four occasions at Anfield during his time with Watford, is wary of the intimidating atmosphere at Anfield.

"Anfield is hell, you have to say it how it is. It’s hell,” says Capoue as quoted by Arab News.
He continued: “It’s the worst stadium I’ve been to in England. Whether it’s the atmosphere, the way they play... For 90 minutes, you live in hell."
“They have this ability to transcend themselves, to cause you nothing but problems, all the time, in any part of the field."
“They never stop, they rush you all the time, they only want to score goals, and even when they score, they carry on. They want to knock you out."
“They don’t care what or who is in front of them. They just want to kill everyone and that’s it.”

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that At a time when a clique of super clubs has cemented its grip on the Champions League and the riches that go with it, Villarreal's surprise progress to the semi-finals of Europe's elite competition is to be savoured.

The Spaniards followed their stunning victory over Italian giants Juventus in the last 16 by ousting Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals, a 1-1 draw in Germany on Tuesday taking them through 2-1 on aggregate.

The club known as the Yellow Submarine and from a town of barely 50,000 people are through to the semi-finals against the odds but deserves to be there thanks to the outstanding work done under coach Unai Emery.
