  • Man United have reportedly included Ralph Hasenhuttl to their shortlist of potential managers to take charge at the end of the season
  • The Red Devils are in the market in search of a permanent manager who will succeed Ralf Rangnick in the summer
  • PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag are firm favourites for the role, with Hasehuttl now also an option

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has reportedly been added to Man United's shortlist of managerial candidates after some impressive results with the Saints.

While PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino and Ajax’s Erik ten Hag are still understood to be the front runners for the Old Trafford job, Hasenhuttl’s name has been floated for the role as well.

According to Mirror UK, Hassenhuttl caught the eyes of United chiefs after leading Southampton to two Premier League draws against champions Man City.

The publication claims football director John Murtough and technical director Darren Fletcher are among United's key decision-makers who have taken notice of Hasenhuttl’s work.

Where does Hassenhuttl rank among Man United managerial candidates?

It is believed that despite Hassenhuttle being included in United's shortlist of candidates, he is still far behind Pochettino and Ten Hag in the pecking order.

The Austrian is currently a cover to the two favourites and can only be considered for the Red Devils job if the Manchester club miss out on both.

Southampton crashed by Aston Villa

Meanwhile, reports on Hasenhuttl to Man United came just hours after Aston Villa hammered Southampton 4-0 on Saturday, March 5.

The clash saw Saints' old boy Danny Ings find the back of the net, with Philippe Coutinho also getting his name on the scoresheet.

The win was Steven Gerrard's biggest since taking charge of Aston Villa as the manager.
