FootballTrouble for Rangnick as 2 Key Man United Stars Set to Miss Burnley Clash
- Ralf Rangnick will be without the pair of Fred and Alex Telles when Man United square off with relegation-threatened Burnley
- The two Brazilians are understood to be self-isolating after they tested positive for Covid-19 in the run-up to the fixture
- United head into the clash with the hope of securing a favourable result to boost their chances of qualifying for the Champions League
Man United will miss the services of Alex Telles and Fred when the Red Devils take on Burnley in the Premier League on Tuesday, February 8, at Turf Moor.
The duo has been ruled out of the clash after they tested positive for Covid-19 and are currently self-isolating.
According to Metro UK, the positive test ruled out Telles from United's FA Cup defeat to Middlesborough, with Fred being sent home on Monday, February 7, when he reported to training.
When can the duo return to action?
While Telles is expected to be available when the Red Devils take on Southampton on Saturday, February 12, Fred is a major doubt for that particular clash as he will need to isolate for at least five days.
United have since confirmed the development, with the club revealing the duo will be staying away from the rest of the squad.
"The Brazilian pair have tested positive for Covid-19, meaning they now have to isolate in line with Government guidelines," a club statement said.
Lingard and Cavani back in United squad
However, Ralf Rangnick has been able to welcome Jesse Lingard and Edinson Cavani back into his squad ahead of the Burnley trip.
The two are expected to be in United’s squad against Burnley alongside Raphael Varane who is understood to be fully fit and available despite coming off early in Friday’s FA Cup defeat.
