Brentford striker Ivan Toney has issued an apology after a video of himself using inappropriate language on his club went viral on social media.

Angry Brentford fans called on the striker to be punished after a video emerged of him seemingly saying “F**k Brentford” in the company of a lady.

Toney is currently in Dubai as the Premier League enters winter break.

The club has since launched an investigation and according to The Sun, a statement was released on Friday, January 28 saying:

“We’re aware and investigating.”

In the video, Toney is shirtless and enjoying a good time in Dubai with a lady, who is the first one to shout the controversial phrase at the camera.

Toney then follows it up with the same words before the woman says it again then the snapchat video cuts off.

The caption of the viral video reads “Ivan Toney moving mad looool.”

Toney’s apology

In the wake of a huge outrage, particularly from Brentford fans, Toney took to his Instagram to apologise for his actions.

"I am aware of a video of me that was published on social media today, taken in Dubai where I have been on holiday during the winter break,” he started.

"In it, I used language that was unacceptable. The video was cut short and edited, but I have to accept the impact this has had and I realise I should not have put myself in that position.

Toney joined Brentford in 2020 and is currently the club’s top scorer in all competitions this season with seven goals.

He has been in impressive form in the last two games, scoring in the 3-1 defeat to Manchester United as well as the 2-1 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

His goals last season helped Brentford spring back to the top flight for the first time in more than a decade.

At the back of a defeat against Wolves, Toney said he needed to use the international break to reset.
