Salah fired his side to victory in the second half of the Saturday, January 15, clash staged at Roumdé Adjia Stadium.

Egypt kicked off their AFCON campaign on a disappointing note after they lost their Group D opener against Nigeria.

However, Salah was able to get the Pharaohs up and running again in their meeting against Guinea-Bissau.

Egypt were dominant through the match as they managed to improve on their opening performance against Nigeria.

Carlos Quirezo's men were a little unlucky to win the tie against Guinea-Bissau by a greater margin as they hit the post three times.

Salah was finally able to strike in the winner in the 69th minute as Egypt bagged the three points.

Guinea-Bissau thought they had restored parity with 10 minutes left on the clock but their equaliser was chalked off by VAR.

Egypt will now be keen to get the job done and seal a place in the knock-out round when they take on Sudan in their last group fixture on Wednesday, January 19.

Nigeria through to AFCON knockout

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Nigeria showed again why they are one of the favourite teams to win AFCON 2021 after a convincing 3-1 win against Sudan.

Goals from Samuel Chukwueze, Taiwo Awoniyi, and Moses Simon secured the win for the Super Eagles as they booked a place in the last 16.

Walieldin Khidir got the consolation goal for Sudan from the spot after Ola Aina gave away a penalty.

Nigeria will take on Guinea-Bissau in their final Group D clash.
