FootballPremier League Top Four Prediction Made as Man United, Arsenal, and Spurs Chase Spot
- Alan Shearer has backed Tottenham to pip Man United and Arsenal to a top-four finish this season
- The three clubs are primed to battle it out for a Champions League spot alongside David Moyes' West Ham United
- Man City, Liverpool, and Chelsea look set to seal the top three slot, leaving other clubs to fight for the last UCL spot
Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has made his top-four Premier League prediction as the season enters the second half.
Man City are currently topping the charts with a 10-point advantage over second-placed Chelsea with Liverpool completing the top three slots.
Arsenal are currently in fourth after a revival under Mikel Arteta, with West Ham, Tottenham Hotspur, and Man United all within a touching base with the Gunners.
City, Chelsea, and Liverpool are projected to take the top three places after a competitive campaign, leaving up to four teams to battle it out for the last Champions League spot.
Former Newcastle striker and England international, Shearer, has tipped the three teams to form the top three and Tottenham to seal a top-four place.
"So I’ll probably have to say Man City [will win] I don’t think anyone will beat them now," the former striker told Optus Sport.
"Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea… I’ve been really impressed with Arteta and Arsenal and how he’s handled things, but [Antonio] Conte going into Spurs and with Harry Kane and Son [Heung-min] up front, I think I might say Spurs into fourth position," he added.
At the bottom of the table, Shearer predicted Norwich and Watford could be relegated but hopes his former side, Newcastle, will survive the drop.
The Magpies are currently placed 19th on the log with just 11 points, two off safety.
