Christian Eriksen has disclosed who is responsible for Manchester United's humiliating defeat against Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Monday night, May 6.

The Danish midfielder was part of the United team, which was thrashed 4-0 by the Eagles at Selhurst Park.

Old Trafford-linked Michael Olise needed just 12 minutes to open the scoring for the hosts before Jean-Philippe Mateta doubled the advantage before the break.

Tyrick Mitchell made it 3-0 for Palace in the 58th minute, with Olise completing his brace in the 66th minute to put the game beyond the Red Devils.

Sky Sports reports that the defeat further dented United's hopes of sealing a Europa League spot at the end of the season, with Erik ten Hag's men rooted in eighth on the standings with 54 points.

Eriksen blames teammates after Crystal Palace loss

Goal reports that Eriksen has now singled his own teammates for blame following their humbling defeat away from home.

Speaking after the match, the Denmark international conceded that the players were solely responsible for the result.

"A big disappointment. We just had an off-day and we weren't in it. It is what it is," Eriksen told BBC Sport. "We can't really change the injury things," he said.
"We have to do what we can on the pitch to change it. Today it didn't matter who we played. Everyone could have done better. I don't know what the conclusion is for how it went. We weren't good enough. We tried to do what we could but we were not good enough. We'll take the blame as players," he added.

United will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways when they take on rivals Arsenal in their next match at Old Trafford.

Fixtures against Brighton and Newcastle United are the other remaining matches the Red Devils are set to play before the end of the campaign.
