Kelechi Iheanacho has cast doubt over his future at Leicester City, fueling speculation about a potential exit from the club this summer.

The Nigerian forward has struggled to secure a regular starting spot under coach, Enzo Maresca, who has preferred Patson Daka.

With his contract set to expire at the end of June, Iheanacho could leave the Foxes for free, with clubs in England and Turkey interested.

Despite being linked to several teams, the 27-year-old Super Eagles player remained tight-lipped about his plans.

"I feel good, I feel great. It’s a massive achievement, so I’m really happy. I don’t know for now; I’m still a Leicester player," he said, as reported by the Daily Post.

Iheanacho's relationship with Maresca soured in January when he opted to represent Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), apparently against the manager's wishes.

Since returning from the tournament, he has made just four appearances in a Leicester shirt. He expressed his joy at their achievement but refused to commit to the club beyond the current season.

According to Punch NG, the club offered Iheanacho an improved contract worth £65,000 per week, but he turned it down due to his frustration over limited playing time.

Aston Villa are reportedly interested in signing the Nigerian, with manager Unai Emery a huge fan of his skills.

Iheanacho among underperforming Nigerian stars

Sports Brief also previously reported that Iheanacho was facing his worst scoring period ever and was among the most underperforming Nigerians in Europe.

The Leicester City striker had not scored since netting against Swansea in October 2023, despite having a stellar start to the 2023/24 campaign for the Foxes.

Iheanacho had made only one start since returning from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in February after being dropped to the bench by the team.
