Zinedine Zidane has shared his thoughts on the highly anticipated UEFA Champions League second-leg tie between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, scheduled for Wednesday, May 8.

The showdown between these perennial rivals hangs in the balance following a tense first leg in which both teams scored two goals each last Tuesday at the Allianz Arena in Germany.

With Madrid boasting an undefeated streak in knockout games at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium for the past four years, they are considered the frontrunners to secure a spot in the final at the iconic Wembley Stadium.

Despite the odds seemingly favouring the Spanish giants, Bayern Munich can draw confidence from their notable achievement as the last team to have eliminated Los Blancos from a UCL tie on their home turf in 2012.

Moreover, Bayern's outgoing manager, Thomas Tuchel, carries an impressive record against the competition's record holders.

According to Transfermarkt, he has faced Real Madrid nine times, winning three, drawing five, and suffering just one defeat.

Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich: Zidane predicts winner

Despite this formidable record, Zidane, spotted at the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday, May 5, remains confident that his former club, Real Madrid, will beat Bayern.

"I hope Madrid wins, but it is going to be a difficult and complicated match," the Frenchman told Sky Germany, as quoted by Metro.

Will Zidane coach Bayern Munich in the future?

Bayern are still looking to replace Tuchel at the end of the season but have experienced several setbacks in their search for a new man in the hot seat.

Bayer Leverkusen's coach, Xabi Alonso, former Bayern trainer Julian Nagelsmann, and ex-Man United interim manager Ralf Rangnick have all declined the opportunity.

When questioned about the possibility of managing the Bavarians in the future, Zidane responded with a smile, "I am going to watch the game, thanks."

Supercomputer backs Real Madrid to win UCL

Sports Brief also reported that a supercomputer has predicted Real Madrid as frontrunner to win this season's UEFA Champions League.

According to Opta's prediction algorithm, Los Blancos are 66.33% likely to reach the final and 39.31% likely to secure their 15th trophy.
