Pavlovich just needed one round to beat Curtis Blaydes in the main event of UFC Fight Night 71, and immediately asked where his title was.

Blaydes was arguably Pavlovich’s toughest challenge yet, but even he had no answer for the power game of the Russian.

The American fighter struggled to trouble Pavlovich, as he was on the receiving end of some nasty jabs and a well-time uppercut. He was eventually dropped with less than two minutes to go in the first, and couldn’t defend himself adequately enough to prevent the referee from stopping the bout.

Pavlovich's impressive record

Pavlovich is now on a six-fight knockout streak, with all six knockouts coming in the first round. He is currently tied for the second-longest knockout streak in the UFC. Only Chuck Liddell, with seven, has more consecutive knockouts than Pavlovich, but no one has more consecutive first-round knockouts.

His lethal power and relentless pressing are proving to be a problem for his fellow heavyweights to handle. He will be looking to do the same against the heavyweight champion, when he finally gets his title shot.

Jon Jones is the current champion but is in talks to fight the former champion, Stipe Miocic. The winner of that bout will have to contend with the hard-hitting Pavlovich.

Jon Jones wins Heavyweight title

Jon Jones became the UFC’s Heavyweight champion when he defeated Cyril Gane for the vacant title.

Bones returned to the organisation after three years and made light work of Gane.

He submitted the French fighter in the first round of their title fight to win the belt, Sports Brief reported.
