  • Ronaldo’s options are getting slimmer as the transfer window continues to close down
  • Paris Saint Germain became the latest club to rule out a transfer for the Portugal superstar, who expressed a desire to leave Old Trafford
  • The 37-year-old is interested in playing for a club that is in the Champions League

Cristiano Ronaldo’s options continue to grow thinner as the days go by, and it is looking more likely that he will be at Manchester United for the upcoming season.

One year after rejoining the Red Devils, the 37-year-old expressed his intentions of leaving the club in pursuit of Champions League football.

By Friday, July 15, Ronaldo was yet to link up with his teammates, who are currently on preseason tour.

Unlike the first time he left Manchester United in 2009, Ronaldo is finding it hard to get suitors who would take up his services and of course, his enormous expected wages.

Sports Brief takes a look at some of the teams that made it clear Ronaldo was not an option, despite the fact that the Portuguese superstar still has a lot to offer on the pitch.

1. Bayern Munich

Cristiano’s agent Jorgen Mendes reportedly approached Bayern Munich over a possible transfer, but the Bavarians, who recently signed Sadio Mane, were not interested.

Bayern, through CEO Oliver Kahn, said Cristiano Ronaldo would not fit into the club’s philosophy.

2. Paris Saint Germain

PSG is one of the recent parties to rule out a move for Ronaldo.

The prospect of Cristiano playing alongside Lionel Messi would be a dream come true for many fans, but that is not on the cards, as the French club is reportedly not keen on further expanding their wage bill by adding another superstar to a side that already contains the likes of Neymar and Kyian Mbappe.

3. Barcelona

Quite controversially, Ronaldo was also linked to Real Madrid’s arch rivals Barcelona but Portuguese football expert Pedro Sepulveda recently denied claims that Jorge Mendes was in Catalunya to discuss a transfer.

4. Chelsea

As per The Guardian, Chelsea have also opted against signing Ronaldo after holding talks with the Portugal forward’s representatives.

Mendes held talks with Todd Boehly, who was initially fascinated with the idea of the five-time Ballon d’or winner at Stamford Bridge.

However, after consultations with Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, the German made it clear he wanted a more fluid and versatile attack.

Chelsea also recently added Raheem Sterling to the side, and their front line is looking quite saturated with talent.

5. Manchester City

This move was another controversial one and rumors of a potential move to United’s City rivals were quashed as early as September 2021.

The Citizens initially wanted to sign Ronaldo in summer 2021 but that deal collapsed at the last minute.

In the latest saga involving the superstar, City have remained quiet, especially after signing Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez.

Cristiano Ronaldo offered mega eal in Saudi Arabia

Meanwhile, Sports Brief earlier reported of the mega deal Cristiano Ronaldo has been tempted with in Saudi Arabia.

Portuguese outlet CNN Portugal claims the unnamed club is willing to break its bank to bring the 37-year old to the Saudi Arabia league, amid growing uncertainly over his future.

The report states that the Middle East club is willing to pay Manchester United €30 million in transfer fees for Ronaldo, which is more than what United paid Juventus last summer.
