Brazil continued their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign with a face-off against Colombia.
In desperate need of a win after a string of disappointing results, the Selecao quickly signalled their intentions by taking an early lead through a collaborative effort between Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr and Arsenal's Gabriel Martinelli.
However, the night, which began optimistically for Fernando Diniz's side, turned sour in more ways than one. First, Vinicius suffered a hamstring injury and had to be substituted. Following this setback, the five-time FIFA World Cup champions found themselves on the receiving end of two rapid goals from Colombian forward Luis Diaz.
Despite their efforts, the Brazilians couldn't recover, and a series of missed opportunities led to their second consecutive defeat.
Nonetheless, amidst the disappointment of the loss, there was room for a historic moment for Real Madrid's young forward, Endrick Felipe, who made his debut that night.
Endrick's Milestone Achievement
The young Brazilian forward who Marca reports had signed to join La Liga giants Real Madrid for the summer of 2024, made his debut as an 82nd-minute substitute for Raphinha. With the act, the current Palmeiras star joined an exclusive club in Brazilian football history.
At just 17 years old, Endrick became the fourth-youngest player to debut for the Brazil men’s national team. Only Pelé (16 years and 257 days), former Santos winger Edu (16 years and 303 days), and another Santos star - Coutinho (17 years and 28 days) had made their senior debut at a younger age than Endrick's 17 years and 118 days, as reported by B/R football.

While Endrick's debut might not have unfolded as he hoped, the young talent will be eager to play a pivotal role when Brazil faces arch-rivals Argentina in their upcoming fixture at the Maracana, aiming to turn the tide in their favour.
