Dricus du Plessis is confident of a clean sweep for South Africa over Australia this weekend.

Stillknocks will be representing the country against an Australian, but that isn’t the only matchup between the two nations on the day.

As noted by MMA Mania, du Plessis will take on Australia’s Robert Whittaker at UFC 290. The winner of the bout will get a shot at Israel Adesanya’s Middleweight title, meaning there’s a lot on the line.

While the undefeated fighter will be in action on July 8, the South African rugby side will also be involved in a brawl against the Aussies.

The Boks will take on the Wallabies in the first game of the Castle Lager Rugby Championship at Loftus Versveld Stadium in Pretoria.

Looking ahead to the upcoming battle between the two countries, du Plessis is confident that the South Africans can perform a clean sweep.

“I 100% in all of my being believe that we are going 2 and 0 against Australia on the 8th of July. It’s going to be a clean sweep for South Africa,” he said.

Adesanya prays du Plessis wins

While du Plessis is confident of a South African win, Israel Adesanya is confident of a Stillknocks victory at UFC 290.

The UFC’s Middleweight champion believes that du Plessis will do the job against Robert Whittaker.

Adesanya is also praying for a victory for the South African fighter so that he can punish him, Sports Brief reported.

Adesanya's warning to du Plessis

The Last Stylebender is unhappy with a fellow African middleweight in the UFC, Sports Brief has previously reported.

Adesanya knocked Pereira out at UFC 287 to reclaim his Middleweight title and then turned his focus to du Plessis.

The Nigerian-born fighter said he hoped the South African kept winning, so he would have a reason to beat him.
