As noted by MMA Junkie, du Plessis is focused on either fighting for the title or fighting for the number one contender's spot.

Stillknocks has been linked with a fight against Paulo Costa in the past but believes he's past that now.

“Paulo Costa had his chance. He’s behind me right now, so I’m not even focusing on him," du Plessis said.

Du Plessis also touched on what the UFC possibly wanted to do next.

“I think they’re waiting to see what happens with Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira. If Izzy wins, I’m the only guy in the top five he hasn’t fought. So that makes sense. If Pereira wins then I am not sure what they will do,” du Plessis added.

Whether it is a number one contender fight or a title shot, Stillknocks explained he would be satisfied either way.

While some have criticised his style as being reckless, du Plessi is extremely happy with his performances thus far and is thrilled to have beaten the number five ranked Middleweight in Brunson.

Sports Brief also reported on Dricus du Plessis proving to be a serious contender for middleweight gold in the UFC.

The South African picked up his fifth win to beat Brunson by TKO in the second round. With two seconds to go in the second round, du Plessis landed two big shots from the top position.

Unbeknown to du Plessis, Brunson’s corner then threw in the towel as they saw their fighter taking a beating.
