Stefanos Tsitsipas and Elina Svitolina booked their places in the third round of the French Open on Wednesday.

The Greek and Ukrainian won their respective second-round matches in three sets.

Tsitsipas needed just two hours and 16 minutes to record a 6-3, 7-6 (4), 6-2 victory over Roberto Carballés Baena.

Tsitsipas eases past Carballes Baena

The 2021 French Open finalist blasted 46 winners and won 77 percent of his first serve points against Carballes Baena, per Roland Garros.

What proved to be the difference in the match, however, was the Greek star’s return.

Tsitsipas won 41 percent of his receiving points against Carballes Baena, with the No. 5 seed converting six of his nine break-point opportunities.

He will next face Diego Schwartzman in the third round.

Svitolina rallies past Hunter

Svitolina advanced to the third round after beating Storm Hunter, 2-6, 6-3, 6-1, needing only hour and 49 minutes to record the second-round win, per WTA.

The Ukrainian star's victory came just 12 hours after her husband, Gael Monfils staged a stunning fightback in the fifth set against Sebastian Baez.

Svitolina blasted 25 winners in the second round. She won 54 percent of her receiving points against Hunter, converting seven of her 16 break-point chances.

She will next face Anna Blinkova in the third round. Blinkova recorded a major upset in the second round, beating world No. 5, Caroline Garcia 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.

Ruud and Jabeur record wins

Sports Brief also reported on Casper Ruud and Ons Jabeur’s matches in the first round of the French Open.

The Norwegian player booked his place in the second round with a 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 win over Elias Ymer.

The Tunisian secured her spot in the round of 64 with a convincing 6-4, 6-1 win over Lucia Bronzetti.
