Kevin Durant was beginning to catch fire when he slipped and rolled his ankle during a pregame workout. He is expected to miss between two to three weeks of NBA action.

Fans will have to wait a little longer for the two-time NBA champion to make his home debut. The veteran forward made his debut during a four-game road trip and was set to make his home debut against his former team, the Oklahoma City Thunder.

An hour before tipoff, the 2014 MVP was doing an individual drill with coaches when he slipped while attempting a shot. He stayed down momentarily before finishing the workout.

He experienced some swelling on his left ankle, forcing the team to rule him out of the game.

The 34-year-old made his team debut in Charlotte on March 1. In three games with Phoenix, he averaged 26.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 3.7 assists.

What it means for the Suns

The two-time NBA champion left the Footprint Center in a walking boot after the Suns blew out the Thunder 132-101, per ESPN.

Before Durant's arrival, the Suns were doing okay, thanks to Devin Booker. The 26-year-old has been incredible in the last few games.

In the last four games, he has scored 37, 35, 36, and 44 points, making 60.2 percent of his shots from the field. He made 16 of his 30 three-point attempts, per the Athletic.

Multiple reports indicated he could miss the rest of the regular season. Therefore, the team wouldn't build much-needed chemistry ahead of the playoffs.

The former Golden State Warriors superstar joined the Suns before the Feb 9 deadline, elevating the Suns to title contenders. They are looking to return to the finals after losing to the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2021 NBA Finals.

Durant's NBA superteams

Sports Brief recently reported on Durant’s superteams in the NBA. He has been part of several great teams in his career, playing for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets, and now the Phoenix Suns.

He reached the NBA Finals with the Thunder in 2012, playing alongside James Harden and Russell Westbrook.

Durant switched teams in 2016, joining a Golden State Warriors team featuring Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green. That partnership yielded two championships in 2017 and 2018.
