The 23-year-old was having a great season and recently made his second appearance at the All-Star Game. However, controversy has followed him all season.

Earlier this week, police in Colorado said they were investigating Morant's actions to determine if he had broken any laws. The video is reported to have been filmed in Glendale, an enclave in Denver and popular for its nightlife including strip clubs, per ESPN.

Beverley's message to Morant

On an episode of his 'Pat Bev pod' this week, the veteran guard weighed in on the situation.

"A lot of ways, the NBA needs Ja. I got video, my son scored his first basket he's ever scored. The first thing he did was the griddy. The first thing. I've never done the griddy. So my son shoots the ball, first thing he does is griddy. I'm talking about full court Griddy. ... That shows you he's taking this new generation by storm," via Sportskeeda.

Earlier this year the NBA investigated another incident involving Morant. His acquaintances had a confrontation with the Indiana Pacers traveling party.

A red laser was pointed at their bus from a sports utility vehicle in which Morant was a passenger.

Jenkins breaks silence on Morant

Sports Brief earlier reported on Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins weighing in on the Morant situation.

He said there's no timetable for the return of their best player but are supporting the youngster as he tries to get help but noted it will be a difficult process.

Jenkins added that they are holding Morant accountable for his actions and it remains to be seen how long the guard will be out of action.
