The Lakers have struggled this season even though James is playing at an all-time high level at 38 years. They are 13th in the Western Conference with a 25-29 record and are pressured by fans to make a move ahead of the trade deadline.

James on Irving's trade

The four-time NBA, nevertheless said he is now focused on his team, stressing that they're still a formidable team when everyone's healthy.

"So we had an opportunity, our names were out there, the Lakers name was out there. We had an opportunity, it didn't happen. We move on and we finish this season strong, try to get a bid into the postseason, where I feel if we go in healthy, we can compete with anybody."

James 36 points away from history
